Answer:

During the Children's Crusade in Birmingham in May of 1963, The Police used fire hoses on protesters.

Explanation:

Bull Connor who was commissioner at that time, directed the local police men to forcefully halt the demonstration. Hundreds of protesters were arrested but more of the Children continued to demonstrate the next day. This made the local police to use fire hoses on the protesters.

Their were images of children blasted by the fire hoses as well as those attacked by police dogs on televisions and newspapers which sparked outrage all over the world. But this did not deter the children from the demonstration which is called 'The Children's Crusade.

Sentences can be formed by phrases or clauses, in this case the italicized words are a phrase. A phrase is a grammatical unit composed by a set of words without subject and predicate whereas a clause is a grammatical unit formed by a set of words that includes a subject and a predicate.

The noun phrase “Wishing to be heard” is modifying the noun “speaker” since it is providing an explanation of why the subject is performing an action.

What were the big questions of life that Emerson focused on in Self‐Reliance and Nature
maxonik [38]
“Self-Reliance” summary key points:
Emerson urges his readers to follow their individual will instead of conforming to social expectations.
Emerson emphasizes following one’s own voice rather than an intermediary's, such as the church.
Emerson encourages his readers to be honest in their relationships with others.
Emerson posits the effects of self-reliance: altering religious practices, encouraging Americans to stay at home and develop their own culture, and focusing on individual rather than societal progress

Hope it helps :)
