Presidential power has grown over the past 200 years because the federal government now plays a larger role in many areas.

Further Explanation:

With the LPG reforms and technology advancement role of the federal government has increased over time. The areas where federal government works are dynamic in nature. They work on Natural Disaster Management, keeping the country safe from terrorism, protection of the environment, Infrastructure Maintenance, strengthening of the economy, management of the U.S immigration System. The other key areas are high quality education, Health Care, helping people get out of poverty. The USA presidency was very different in 1700s than it is now in the 21st-century. The constitutional provisions restricted the powers of the first three Presidents. In the 1930s, only Congress has the influence over the federal government. But by the end there was a transfer in the powers from the legislative branch to the executive branch of the government. Currently, the executive branch has similar powers as of legislative branch. The powers, benefitsand qualifications of a president are defined in Article II. The President must be at least 35 years of age and must be a resident of the USA or have lived in the country for no less than 14 years. The powers granted to the President are military powers in which President act as “commander in chief” of the armed forces. Diplomatic powers of the President include any treaty with the foreign nation will be implemented only after the signature of the President. The appointment powers the president appoints ambassadors and the judges of the Supreme Court. The legislative powers of the president are that he/she can veto any legislation made by the Congress. Andrew Jackson was very popular among the masses loved and he used hisimage to increase the power of appointments, extended the veto powers. Abraham Lincoln suspended the Habeas corpus during the time of civil war. So the power of the President has been framed by the integration of constitutional powers along with transformative powers.
