Greece is a very mountainous area, so there wasn't much flat land to crop crops like white and barley that would feed the large herds of animals, so they farmed things like grapes and olives instead.

Explanation:  Ancient Greece, geographically speaking, mostly has mountains, then plenty of islands, and few gazing lands and fertile plains. Therefore, it was impossible to grow herds that required wide gazing lands, as well as fertile plains for grain cultivation. So they relied on other agricultural crops, such as olives and grapes, then trade, fishing and the so-called maritime trade routes.
