Addends are numbers used in addition problems, they refers to the numbers that are added together. Addition problems can have two or more addends which can be positive or negative and they can be single digit or double digits.
When solving addition problems, it is advisable to make one of the addends a tens number because, it makes the addition operation easier to manipulate.

Since we can add a number to a tens number easily, we make one of the addends a tens number when solving an addition problem.

Example 1:

Add 9 and 6.

9 + 6 = 9 + (1 + 5)

        = (9 + 1) + 5

        = 10 + 5 = 15

Note that adding 10 and 5 is much easier than adding 9 and 6.

Example 2:

Add 18 and 16.

18 + 16 = 18 + (2 + 14)

        = (18 + 2) + 14

        = 20 + 14 = 34

Note that adding 20 and 14 is much easier than adding 18 and 16.

flying against the wind an airplane travels 8460 kilometers in 9 hours. flying with the wind, the same plane travels 9600 kilome
BabaBlast [244]

Let a be the speed of the plane and w the wind speed.

a - w = (8460 km)/(9 h) = 940 km/h

a + w = (9600 km)/(8 h) = 1200 km/h

Add these speeds together to eliminate w and solve for a :

2a = 1740 km/h

a = 870 km/h

Subtract the first vector from the second to eliminate a and solve for w :

2w = 260 km/h

w = 130 km/h

Lines AB and CD intersect at P. PR−→− is perpendicular to line AB, and the measure of ∠APD is 170°. A series of intersecting lin
liraira [26]

Answer:

The correct answer is option A.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : line AB intersect CD at P. PR is perpendicular to AB.

∠APD = 170°

To find = ∠DPB =?

Solution :

line AB intersect CD at P:

So,∠APD =∠BPC = 170° ..[1]

(vertically opposite angles of two straight lines intersecting at common point are equal)

On line CD two angles are ∠BPC ,∠DPB

∠BPC + ∠DPB =180° (supplementary angles)

170°+ ∠DPB =180°

∠DPB =180° - 170° = 10°

So, the measure of ∠DPB is 10°.

Solve for x. Thanks!
Vladimir79 [104]

Answer:

x = \frac{2T}{nd} - a

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply both sides by 2 to eliminate the fraction

2T = n(a + x)d

Since n and d are both multipliers, divide both sides by nd

\frac{2T}{nd} = a + x

Isolate x by subtracting a from both sides, hence

x = \frac{2T}{nd} - a
