Why is there a monument of a paratrooper hanging from the church in sainte-mere-eglise?
Burka [1]
The statue is of John Steele who was part of the U.S. 2nd Battalion of paratroopers that dropped on the town in normandy on D-Day, June 5, 1944. The dropping operation was largely unsuccessful and many of the soldiers were killed before they reached the ground. John Steele managed to survive after his parachute caught on the steeple of a church and he spent the ivasion hanging from his harness. He was later able to rejoin american troops and survived the war.

How did John Brown's actions in Kansas and at
goblinko [34]

Answer:

John Brown was the embodiment of Radical Abolitionism. It wasn't what many people had in mind, but it certainly made a great news story in which fear had risen up more in the south.

Explanation:

John Brown was a radical abolitionist and went arguably insane since he kind of failed at anything he tried. He kickstarted years of fighting and death known as "Bleeding Kansas" and then raided an armory at Harper's Ferry. He tried to use violent means in order to end slavery in the south. This put the south at the near-breaking point.
