The Global North does have a moral obligation to help the Global South because the weathly nations of Europe and North America acquired their power and resources unjustly by exploiting people in other regions of the world by paying them less to assemble products, for example, because this helps to lower the costs of such products. Lower prices mean that more people in Europe and North America can buy them. The international order upholds this imbalance and wealthy nations have more power in our current global society. There is even more direct accountability for countries that were former colonies like some European powers were in Africa for example, or India being a colony of England. The resources that the colonial powers were able to extract from the colonies led to the historic rise in power for countries like England.
