Remember you can do anythingn to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

2-5x=-18
minus 2 both sides
2-2-5x=-18-2
0-5x=-20
-5x=-20
times both sides by -1
5x=20
divide both sides by 5
(5x)/5=20/5
(5/5)x=4
1x=4
x=4

2-5x=-18
Subtract 2 on each side of the equal sign.
-5x= -20
Divide on each side of the equal sign by -5.
x= 4

a square garden has a diagonal of 12 m. What is the perimeter of the garden? Express in simplest radical form
lianna [129]

Answer:

The perimeter of the garden, in meters, is 24\sqrt{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Diagonal of a square:

The diagonal of a square is found applying the Pythagorean Theorem.

The diagonal of the square is the hypothenuse, while we have two sides.

Diagonal of 12m:

This means that d = 12, side s. So

s^2 + s^2 = 12^2

2s^2 = 144

s^2 = \frac{144}{2}

s^2 = 72

s = \sqrt{72}

Factoring 72:

Factoring 72 into prime factors, we have that:

72|2

36|2

18|2

9|3

3|3

1

So

72 = 2^{3}*3^{2}

So, in simplest radical form:

s = \sqrt{72} = \sqrt{2^{3}*3^{2}} = \sqrt{2^3}*\sqrt{3^2} = 2\sqrt{2}*3 = 6\sqrt{2}

Perimeter of the garden:

The perimeter of a square with side of s units is given by:

P = 4s

In this question, since s = 6\sqrt{2}

P = 4s = 4*6\sqrt{2} = 24\sqrt{2}

The perimeter of the garden, in meters, is 24\sqrt{2}

What is the simplified form?
yarga [219]

Answer:

\frac{6}{5x^{10}}

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Simplify square roots

√72 = 6√2

√50 = 5√2

So, \frac{x^86\sqrt{2} }{x^{18}5\sqrt{2} }

Step 2: Cancel like terms

\frac{6}{x^{10}(5)}

Step 3: Rewrite

And we should get our answer!

If 1/4c = 1/2d = 4e = 8, what is the value of c + d + e?
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:c=1/32 d=1/16 e=2

C+d+e=1/32+1/16+2=35/16

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve for c

1/4c =8

C=1/32

1/2d=8

d=1/16

4e=8

e=2
