Answer:

3/2 or -2/5

Step-by-step explanation:

Get everything on one side because this is a quadratic....

subtract 4 on both sides

subtract 5x on both sides

add 7x^2 on both sides

this gives us:

10x^2-11x-6=0

Now we can try to factor or just hop right into the quadratic formula

D=b^2-4ac=121-4(10)(-6)=121+240=361

sqrt(D)=sqrt(b^2-4ac)=19 where this is the sqrt(discriminant) so it would have factored nicely since this come out to be a whole number.

Anyways the quadratic formula says to do x=(-b (pm) sqrt(D))/(2a)

*(pm) means plus or minus*

So x=(11 (pm) 19)/(20)

So x=30/20=3/2 or -8/20=-2/5

(do you want to show factored form and do it that way)

A student did 3 5 of his homework and another 8 problems. then his father came and did one fifth of his homework and the remaini
Komok [63]
Let’s assume the number of problems as P Student did his homework = (3/5) P + 8 Father did the homework = (1/5) P + 7 So the sum of the both equations is equal to P => (3/5) P + 8 + (1/5) P + 7 = P => (4/5) P + 15 = P => 4P + 75 = 5P => P = 75 Problems they solve together are 75 problems.

Emily spent a total of $38.04 on four CDs in a CD cost the same amount what is a reasonable amount for the cost of each city exp
pashok25 [27]
In order to find the cost of each CD, you would have to divide $38.04 by 4 CDs and you would get $9.51 as the cost of each CD. If you want to check if your answer is correct, you can either add $9.51 four times to get $38.04 or you can multiply $9.51 x 4 and you should get $38.04 remember that multiplication is always a way to check your answer for division problems and division is always a way to check an answer to your multiplicatiom problems. Just search it up for more info. Hope i helped! :)
