This circumnavigation opened up European exploration to formerly uncharted areas resulting in the Strait of Magellan sea route, Magellanic penguins named after Magellan, celestial bodies named after Magellan due to his supreme navigation prowess, and the exploration of both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.
