So what you asked this is what I got

x(y) = 4.5

If x= 0.5 then

0.5(y) = 4.5
y=9

x(y) = 4.5

10(y) = 4.5
y= 0.45

hope this helps :)

Verify that the given point is on the curve and find the lines that are (a) tangent and (b) normal to the curve at the given poi
lara [203]

For each curve, plug in the given point (x,y) and check if the equality holds. For example:

(I) (2, 3) does lie on x^2+xy-y^2=1 since 2^2 + 2*3 - 3^2 = 4 + 6 - 9 = 1.

For part (a), compute the derivative \frac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}, and evaluate it for the given point (x,y). This is the slope of the tangent line at the point. For example:

(I) The derivative is

x^2+xy-y^2=1\overset{\frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dx}}{\implies}2x+x\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}+y-2y\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=0\implies\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}=\dfrac{2x+y}{2y-x}

so the slope of the tangent at (2, 3) is

\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}(2,3)=\dfrac74

and its equation is then

y-3=\dfrac74(x-2)\implies y=\dfrac74x-\dfrac12

For part (b), recall that normal lines are perpendicular to tangent lines, so their slopes are negative reciprocals of the slopes of the tangents, -\frac1{\frac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dx}}. For example:

(I) The tangent has slope 7/4, so the normal has slope -4/7. Then the normal line has equation

y-3=-\dfrac47(x-2)\implies y=-\dfrac47x+\dfrac{29}7

Assume X is normally distributed with a mean of 5 and a standard deviation of 2. Determine the value for x that solves each of t
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:

U = 5

S = 4

1.) P(X>x) = 0.5

Prob = 1-0.5 = 0.5

We have z = 0, that is the z score with the probability of 0.5

X = u + z(s)

= 5+0*4

= 5

2.) 1-0.95 = 0.05

Z score having this probability

Z = -1.64

X = 5-1.64*4

= 5-6.56

= -1.56

3.) P(z<1.0) - p(X<x) = 0.2

0.841345-0.2 = .641345

We find the z score given this probability

Z= 0.36

X = 5+0.36*4

= 5+1.44

= 6.44

4.) P(X<x)-P(Z<-.5)

0.95 = p(X<x)-0.308538

p(X<x) = 0.308538 + 0.95

= 1.258538

There is no x value here, given that the probability is more than 1.

5. 1-0.99/2 = 0.005

We get the z score value

= -2.58

U - 5 = 5-5 = 0

-x = 0-2.58(4)

X = 10.32

Answer: 2.7mm

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the circumference of a circle is given as 2πr. In thkw case, thw circumference is 17mm.

Therefore, 2πr = 17

2 × 3.14 × r = 17

6.28r = 17

r = 17/6.28

r = 2.7mm

Therefore the radius of the circle is 2.7mm
