Answer:

  see below

Step-by-step explanation:

A multiplier on the function value moves its y-coordinate farther from the x-axis by that multiplier value. It is the stretch factor. Stretch factors less than 1 cause the graph to be compressed vertically.

__

A multiplier on the independent variable means it doesn't need to be as large to give the same function value. That is, multiplication of x by a factor of k compresses the graph horizontally by that factor of k. Equivalently, it does a horizontal stretch by a factor of 1/k.

5/7              4/6              Do a cross multiplication  6*5    and 7*4

6*5              7*4

30                 28

30 is bigger than 28.  Therefore 5/7 is greater than 4/6

Yes 5/7 is greater than 4/6.

I hope it is not that complicated.

I need help simplifying both of these. thank you!

<h3>Answer:</h3>
  1. -100x +100; 3
  2. 5x +81; 162
<h3>Step-by-step explanation:</h3>

The distributive property is your friend. It tells you ...

  a(b + c) = ab + ac

It can also be used to simplify the product of binomials (or other polynomials).

  (a +b)^2 = (a +b)(a +b) = a(a +b) + b(a +b) = a^2 +ab +ab +b^2

  (a +b)^2 = a^2 +2ab + b^2 . . . . . . . worth remembering

1. (x -10)^2 -x(x +80) = (x^2 -20x +100) +(-x^2 -80x)

  = -100x +100 . . . . . . simplified form

For the purposes of calculation, it can be easier to factor out 100:

  = 100 (1 -x)

Then for x = 0.97

  = 100(1 -0.97) = 100(0.03) = 3

___

2. (2x +9)^2 -x(4x +31) = (4x^2 +36x +81) -4x^2 -31x = 5x +81

For x = 16.2, this is ...

  5(16.2) +81 = 81 +81 = 162

_____

The purpose of the attachment is to show the evaluation is correct.

A jogger goes 1.5km west and then turns south.If the jogger finishes 1.7 km from the starting point,how far south did the jogger
kakasveta [241]
Hello!

You can use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve this

a^{2} + b^{2} = c^{2}

c is the hypotenuse
a and b are the legs

Put in the values you know

1.5^{2} + b^{2} = 1.7^{2}

Square the numbers

2.25+ b^{2} =2.89

Subtract 2.25 from both sides

b^{2} =0.64

Take the square root of both sides

b = 0.8

The answer is 0.8km

Hope this helps!
