Find the multiples of each denominator
In this case...
It would be 4, 8, 12
12

See when you come to a common number

(3×3)/(4×3) to get 12 + (5×1)/(12×1) whatever u do to the bottom do to the top
9/12 + 5/12
14/12
7/6

In reality your common denominator should be the Least Common Multiple. The LCM is the product of highest occurring primes of the numbers prime factorizations...

4=2*2, and 12=2*2*3.  So the LCM is 2*2*3=12  Now that you know what the least common multiple is we can say that:

(3/4)(3/3)+5/12

9/12+5/12

(9+5)/12

14/12

7/6  which should be converted to a mixed number as this is an improper fraction...

(6+1)/6

1+1/6

1 1/6

What is the following quotient?
almond37 [142]

Answer:

B)  \sqrt{30}  - 3 \sqrt{2}  +  \sqrt{55}  -  \sqrt{33}  \div 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: First we have to get rid off the roots in the denominator.

To do that, we have to multiply the numerator and the denominator by the conjugate of √5 + √3.

The conjugate of √5 + √3 is √5 - √3.

Now multiply given expression with √5 - √3

(√6 + √11)     (√5 - √3)

------------- x   -----------

(√5 + √3)        (√5 - √3)

Step 2: Multiply the numerators and the denominators.

√6√5 - √6√3 +√11√5 -√11√3

------------------------------------------

(√5)^2 - (√3)^2

Now let's simplify to get the answer.

√30-√18 +√55 - √33

-----------------------------

5 - 3

= √30 -3√2 +√55                                     [√18 = √9√2 = 3√2]

--------------------------

2

The answer is  \sqrt{30}  - 3 \sqrt{2}  +  \sqrt{55}  -  \sqrt{33}  \div 2

Thank you.

What is the inverse of cube root x/3 +1
Ostrovityanka [42]

Answer:

{f}^{ - 1} (x) = 3 {x}^{2}  - 3

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to find the inverse of

y = \sqrt[3]{ \frac{x}{3} + 1}

We interchange x and y to get:

x= \sqrt[3]{ \frac{y}{3} + 1}

We solve for y;

{x}^{2}  =  \frac{y}{3}  + 1

Multiply through by 3

3 {x}^{2}  = y + 3

Subtract 1 from both sides:

y = 3 {x}^{2}  - 3

Therefore the inverse is

{f}^{ - 1} (x) = 3 {x}^{2}  - 3
