1. what biome is characterized by very low temperatures, little precipitation, and permafrost? A. desert B. temperate forest C.

tundra D. tropical rain forest 2. which two biomes have the least precipitation? A. tropical rain forest and temperate grassland B. Savana and tropical rain forest C. tundra and desert D. boreal forest and temperature forest 3. which of the following would not be a factor that helps determine the characteristics of a land biomes have altering warm and cold seasons? A.exposure to solar flares B. relative humidity C. latitude D. prevailing winds 4. what factor explains why tundra biomes remain cold year-round but taiga biomes have altering warm? A. vegetation cover B. average precipitation C. altitude D. latitude 5. what factors explain the difference in biodiversity between the tundra and the tropical rain forest? A.the large land area occupied by rain forests provides more space for a large variety of organisms to live B. warmer temperatures and higher average rain fall in the tropical rain forest allow more living things to survive C. unlike tropical rain forests, tundra biomes are cut off from oceans by ice, and so they lose access to a rich source of food D. the tropical rain forest is not as supportive of predators as the tundra, which allows many more organisms of varying types to flourish

Answer:

As explained under.

Explanation:

1. C. tundra biome is the coldest and has an average temp of 10 degrees.

2. D. boreal forest and the temperate forest has an average rain of 50 cm.

3. Exposure to solar flares, cannot be considered as an characteristics affecting the biomes on land.

4. B. average precipitation, as the difference between the two tendaand taiga biome.

5. B. Due to the presence of warmer temperatures and higher average rainfall in the tropical rainforest thus, allows more living things to survive, is more diverse and has a great biodiversity

Answer is : C, increase the surface to allow more space for ATP synthesis.

As it produces large amounts of ATP through oxidative metabolism of pyruvates, which are produced by glycolysis. The main job of mitochondria is to perform cellular respiration.  This means it takes in nutrients from the cell, breaks it down, and turns it into energy.  This energy is then in turn used by the cell to carry out various functions. Each cell contains a different number of mitochondria The number present is dependent upon how much energy the cell requires.  The more energy a cell needs the more mitochondria that will be present. Cells have the ability to produce more mitochondria as needed.  They also can combine mitochondria to make larger ones. The most prominent roles of mitochondria are to produce the energy currency of the cell, ATP (i.e., phosphorylation of ADP),  through respiration, and to regulate cellular metabolism. The central set of reactions involved in ATP production are collectively known  as the citric acid cycle, or the Krebs cycle. However, the mitochondrion has many other functions in addition to the production of ATP.

What are some possible consequences of a mutation? Give a specific example for each consequence you list.
Tju [1.3M]
Since all cells in our body contain DNA, there are lots of places for mutations to occur; however, some mutations cannot be passed on to offspring and do not matter for evolution. Somatic mutations<span> occur in non-reproductive cells and won't be passed onto offspring. For example, the golden color on half of this Red Delicious apple was caused by a somatic mutation. Its seeds will not carry the mutation.
</span>

A single germ line mutation can have a range of effects:

<span><span>No change occurs in phenotype.
Some mutations don't have any noticeable effect on the phenotype of an organism. This can happen in many situations: perhaps the mutation occurs in a stretch of DNA with no function, or perhaps the mutation occurs in a protein-coding region, but ends up not affecting the amino acid sequence of the protein.</span><span>Small change occurs in phenotype.
A single mutation caused this cat's ears to curl backwards slightly.</span><span>Big change occurs in phenotype.
Some really important phenotypic changes, like DDT resistance in insects are sometimes caused by single mutations. A single mutation can also have strong negative effects for the organism. Mutations that cause the death of an organism are called lethals — and it doesn't get more negative than that.</span></span>

How does glycolysis work
natita [175]
Alright hopefully this isn't to confusing but, Glycolysis is the first step in the breakdown of glucose to extract energy for cellular metabolism. Also most living organisms carry out "glycolysis" as part of their metabolism. Last but not least, the process doesn't even use oxygen it takes place in anaerobic conditions.
