A balloon filled with 2.00 L of helium initially at 1.25 atm of pressure rises into the atmosphere. When the surrounding pressur

e reaches 410. mmHg, the balloon will burst. If 1 atm = 760. mmHg, what volume will the balloon occupy in the instant before it bursts?

Answer:

final volume the balloon occupy in instant before it burst is 4.634 L

Explanation:

given data

helium filled V1 = 2 L

initially pressure P1 = 1.25 atm

finally pressure P2 = 410 mmHg

1 atm = 760 mmHg

to find out

at what volume the balloon occupy in instant before it burst

solution

we have given

760 mmHg = 1atm

and 1 mmHg = 1/760

so 410mmHg = 410/760 atm

so that final pressure is = 410/760 atm

we use here Boyle's Law that is

Boyle's law states that "the volume of an ideal gas is inversely proportional to the pressure of the gas at constant temperatures"

so P ∝ 1/V

P1V1 = P2V2

V2 = P1V1 / P2

put all value

V2 = 1.25 (2) / (410/760)

V2 = 2.5 / 0.53947 = 4.634

so final volume the balloon occupy in instant before it burst is 4.634 L

What statement is true about the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to the human eye?
Alja [10]
Based on the options above, I see how the last option would actually be most fitting to how "the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to the human eye". This would be in separate parts, which would be divided into a certain number, which would actually be only 7 ranges of wavelengths. And therefore, this last statement would actually go very well and it would actually be the correct answer. And this would all relate to how the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to the human eye, it's based on it's own 7 division parts that it has.

Your answer: \textsf{It is divided into seven ranges of wavelengths}

Which of the following accurately describes between distance and displacement
klasskru [66]

Distance is a scalar and displacement is a vector

Explanation:

Distance and displacement are two different quantities. Let's review them in detail:

 • Distance is a scalar quantity (only a number followed by unit). Distance represents the total length of the path covered by an object during its motion. Therefore, it does not take into account the direction of motion, in its calculation.
 • Displacement is a vector quantity, so it has a magnitude, a unit and a direction. Displacement is a vector connecting the initial position to the final position of the motion of an object. Therefore, in its calculation, the direction of motion must be taken into account.

Let's see an example in order to understand distance and displacement better.

Imagine a person moving 5 meters forward and then 2 meters backward. In this case:

 • The distance covered by the man is just the total lenght of the path covered, therefore: 5 + 2 = 7 meters
 • The displacement of the man is the distance between the initial and final position. Since the man moved 5 m forward and 2 m backward, his final position is 3 meters forward, therefore the displacement is 3 m in the forward direction.
