First is to make equations for both sides.
Let x be the number of the miles.
      a be the charge of the first company
      b be the charge of the second

a=$35+$0.25(x), b=$40+$0.20(x) .
then a=b
Substitute the equations
$35+$0.25(x)=$40+$0.20(x)
$0.25x - $0.20x = $40 - $35
$0.05x = $5
x= $5/$0.05 , cancel out the unit.
x= 100

To justify substitute x to both the equations a and b.

a= 35 + 0.25(x)
a= 35 + 0.25(100)
a= 35 + 25
a= $60

b= 40 + 0.20(x)
b= 40 + 0.20(100)
b= 40 + 20
b= 60

a=b
60=60.

A building casts a shadow that is 15 meters in length The distance from the top of the building to the top of the shadow is 25 m
Ber [7]

Answer:

20 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

The shadow of the building will look like a right triangle. In this problem, the hypotenuse of the triangle is 25 meters, and one of the sides is 15 meters. What we are trying to find is the length of the other side.

We can do this by using pythagoreans theorem.

15^2 + x^2 = 25^2\\225 + x^2 = 625\\x^2 = 400\\x =  20

So, the last side (or the height of the building) is 20 meters.

the value y varies directly with x. which function represents the relationship between x and y if y=20/3 when x=30?
joja [24]
If y varies directly with x, means that they can be modeled by a linear equation, lets choose a line with 0 y intercept, that is:
y = mx + b
y = mx
where m is the slope of the line, now we plug in the data we have:
y = mx
20/3 = m(30)
solving for m:
m = (20/3)(1/30)
m = 20/90
m = 2/9
so the line equation, or function modeling the y and x relationship is:
y = (2/9)x

Line AB contains points A (−1, 3) and B (5, 3). Line AB has a slope that is zero undefined positive negative
nydimaria [60]
It would be zero

See how the Y are the same so if you were to graph it you would get a flat line and it wouldn't be undefined cause that when the X has the same value.
