Given:

Composite figure

To find:

The volume of the composite figure.

Solution:

The figure is splitted into two shapes.

One is rectangular pyramid and the other is  rectangular prism.

<u>Rectangular pyramid:</u>

Length = 8

Width = 6

Height = 10 - 4 = 6

Volume of rectangular pyramid = \frac{1}{3} lbh

Volume of rectangular pyramid =\frac{1}{3} (8)(6)(6)

<u>Rectangular prism:</u>

Length = 8

Width = 6

Height = 4

Volume of rectangular prism = length × width × height

                                                = 8 × 6 × 4

Volume of rectangular prism = (8)(6)(4)

Volume of figure = Volume of pyramid + volume of  prism

                           =\frac{1}{3} (8)(6)(6)+(8)(6)(4)

The volume of the composite figure is \frac{1}{3} (8)(6)(6)+(8)(6)(4) cubic units.

Looks like you're given an equality between two matrices,

\begin{bmatrix}-12&-w^2\\2f&3\end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix}2k&-81\\-14&3\end{bmatrix}

Two matrices are equal if the entries in the same positions (row and column) are equal. This means

\begin{cases}-12=2k\\-w^2=-81\\2f=-14\\3=3\end{cases}

We can ignore the last one, since it's clearly true. For the remaining, we get

-12=2k\implies k=-\dfrac{12}2=-6

-w^2=-81\implies w^2=81\implies w=\pm9

2f=-14\implies f=-\dfrac{14}2=-7

One root of f(x) = 2x3 + 9x2 + 7x – 6 is –3. Explain how to find the factors of the polynomial.
uysha [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given f(x) = 2x³ + 9x² + 7x – 6

Also given that -3 is a root, which means (x+3) is a factor of f(x).

In order to find the other factors, we need to divide f(x) by (x-3)

or  (2x³ + 9x² + 7x – 6) /  (x-3)

you can either use long division or synthetic division to perform this division, either way, you will end up with :

(2x³ + 9x² + 7x – 6) /  (x-3) = (2x² + 3x -2) which is also a factor of f(x)

Hence f(x) can be expressed

f(x) = 2x³ + 9x² + 7x – 6 = (x-3)(2x² + 3x -2)

We notice that for (2x² + 3x -2) you can further factor this using quadratic factoring (or your choice of method to solve quadratic equations).

By factoring, (2x² + 3x -2) = (2x-1) (x+2)

hence f(x) = (x-3)(2x² + 3x -2) = (x-3)(2x-1)(x+2)

Which expression represents the correct form for the quotient and remainder, written as partial fractions, of
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

  • C)~A+ \frac{B}{x-3} +\frac{c}{(x-3)^2}

Step-by-step explanation:

→ \frac{(7x^2-40x+52)}{(x^2-6x+9)}

→ \frac{7x^2-40x+52}{x^2-2.3x+(3)^2}

→  \frac{7x^2-40x+52}{(x-3)^2}
