Find the sum of the geometrical equation -3 , 18 , -108 , if there are 7 terms
harina [27]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

Sum = -119,962                    ( I hope!)

Discussion:

Let's determine the pattern.

first term:  -3

2nd term:  (-3) * (-6) = 18                     (multiply first term by -6)

3rd  term:  (18) * (-6) = -108                 (multiply 2nd term by -6)

4th term :  (-108)*(-6) = 648                ( etc)

5th term :  (648)*(-6) =  -3888            (etc)

6th term :  (-3888)*(-6) = 23328         (etc)

7th term:   (23328)*(-6) =  -139967     (etc)

Sum = -119,962

A simpler way to do this is to use the formula for the sum of a geometric series to n terms. The series is

-3  Sum ( -6)^n                n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

irga5000 [103]
4 ⋅ 6 + 5 ⋅ 7 + 6 ⋅ 8 + ... + 4n( 4n + 2) = 4(4n+1)(8n+7)/6 is false because it isn't even true when n=1. 4 ⋅ 6 = 4(4*1+1)(8*1+7)/6 24 = 4(5)(15)/6 24 = 50 Also 4n(4n+2) is not even the correct formula for the nth term. The correct nth term formula of 4 ⋅ 6 + 5 ⋅ 7 + 6 ⋅ 8 + ... is (n+3)(n+5). So it's wrong all the way around.

For which two beverages is the difference between the prices the greatest? what is the difference?
Anton [14]

Answer:

The biggest difference is between fruit juice and lemonade ($0.6).

Step-by-step explanation:

Giving the following information:

items:

fruit juice. $0.89

iced tea. $1.29

lemonade. $1.49

pretzel. $2.50

popcorn. $1.25

First, popcorn and pretzel are not beverages.

Now, we need to find the differences in prices between each beverage and determine the greatest:

Fruit juice to ice tea= 0.89 - $0.4

Fruit juice to lemonade= 0.89 - 1.49= $0.6

Ice tea to lemonade= 1.29 - 1.49= $0.2

The biggest difference is between fruit juice and lemonade ($0.6).
