The equation
a/4 = 2/3
do cross multiplication
8 = 3a
a = 8/3

Performing the expression.
= (a - 4) / 4
= (8/3 - 4) / 4
= (8-12 / 3)/4
= -4/3 / 4
= -1 / 3

So the answer is letter b.

Suppose a triangle has two sides of length 33 and 37, and that the angle between these two sides is 120. What is the length of t
postnew [5]
Use the cosine law to answer the question which can be expressed as,
                           c² = a² + b² -2ab(cos C)
where c is the side opposite to angle C and a and b are the sides adjacent to the angle. Substituting the given values,
                             c² = 33² + 37² - (2)(33)(37)(cos 120°) = 3679
The value of c is 60.65. Therefore, the length of the third side is approximately 60.65 units.

Let g(x) be the reflection of f(x) = 3x + 2 in the x-axis. What is a function rule for g(x)?
BartSMP [9]

The reflection of f(x) = 3\cdot x + 2 in the x-axis is g(x) = -3\cdot x - 2. The function used to derive g(x) is: g(x) = -f(x). (Correct choice: g(x) = -3\cdot x - 2)

Mathematically speaking, a reflection in the x-axis is defined by the following expression:

g(x) = -f(x) (1)

Where:

  • f(x) - Original function.
  • g(x) - Reflected function.

If we know that f(x) = 3\cdot x + 2, then the expression for g(x) is:

g(x) = - (3\cdot x + 2)

g(x) = -3\cdot x - 2

The reflection of f(x) = 3\cdot x + 2 in the x-axis is g(x) = -3\cdot x - 2. The function used to derive g(x) is: g(x) = -f(x).
