As light slows down, it bends or refracts. The index of refraction helps predict the amount of bending. How are the speed of lig

ht and the index of refraction related? A) The speed of light is a constant in all materials. B) The index is proportional to the speed of light in the medium. C) The index is inversely proportional to the speed of light in the medium. D) The index is proportional to the square of the speed of light in the

When light changes the medium it travels through it also changes speed. The speed in medium is given by formula:
v_{medium} = \frac{c}{ n_{medium} }

Rearranging formual gives:
n_{medium} = \frac{c}{ v_{medium} }

From this formula we can make conclusion that index of refraction is inversely proportional to speed of light in medium. This means that greater speed gives smaller index of refraction.

How is friction reduced between an air hockey puck and the table.
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

An air hockey table has a very smooth and slippery surface which reduces friction by suspending the puck on cushion of air, so that this its motion is much less altered by friction, causing it to glide in a straight line at relatively constant velocity across the table.

Find the gravitational force that Earth (mass = 5.97 × 10²⁴ kg) exerts on the moon (mass = 7.35 × 10²² kg) when the distance bet
alexandr402 [8]

Explanation:

mass of earth (m1)=5.97×10^24

mass of moon (m2)=7.35×10^22

distance between their center (d)= 3.84×10^8

G=6.67×10^-11

now,

gravitational force =(F)= G(m1×m2)/d²

  • 6.67×10^-11(5.97×10^24×7.35×10^22)/(3.84×10^8)
