12^2 -55x = 28              => as 12^2 = 144

144 - 55x = 28               =>  add 55x to each sode

144 - 55x + 55x = 28 + 55x   =>

144 = 28 + 55x              => subtract 28 from each side

144 - 28 = 55x              =>

116         = 55x              =>

x = 116/55
