According to Maslow, self-actualization is the <em>highest point a human can reach</em> and what he/she strives for. It is achieved by <em>fulfilling his/her highest needs.</em> It is when the individual has found a meaning of life.
An individual realized self-actualization when he/she has achieved his/her full potential. It is the pinnacle of human striving, the most important aspect of an individual's life path.
