Answer:

   a) The cost of ribeye steak dinners is $ 16.96.

   b) The cost of grilled salmon dinners is $ 23.37.

Explanation:

Let the cost for ribeye steak dinners be m and cost for grilled salmon dinners be n.

A waitress sold 10 ribeye steak dinners and 18 grilled salmon dinners, totaling $590.39 on a particular day.

So, we have

         10 m + 18 n = 590.39 -------equation 1

Another day she sold 22 ribeye steak dinners and 9 grilled salmon dinners, totaling $583.49

So, we have

         22 m + 9 n = 583.49 -------equation 2

equation 2 x 2

       44 m + 18 n = 1166.98 -------equation 3

equation 3 - equation 1

        44 m + 18 n - (  10 m + 18 n ) = 1166.98 - 590.39

         m = 16.96 $

  Substituting in equation 1

        22 x 16.96 + 9 n = 583.49

          n = 23.37 $

   a) The cost of ribeye steak dinners is $ 16.96.

   b) The cost of grilled salmon dinners is $ 23.37.

Since the bases are the same you can subtract the exponents. All you have to do is 5-2, which is 3 therefore the answer is x^3.

The amount of the tip each waiter receives after a wedding is inversely proportional to the number of waiters serving the event.
iogann1982 [59]

Answer:

The relationship between n and t is n*t=1200 (option d)

Step-by-step explanation:

Two quantities are inversely proportional if when multiplying (or dividing) one of them by a number, the other is divided (or multiplied) by the same number. That is, two magnitudes are inversely proportional if when one increases, the other decreases in the same proportion.

Given two variables, x and y, with an inversely proportional relationship, the product of both is always constant and equal to the coefficient of proportionality:

x*y=k

where k is the coefficient of proportionality.

This means that knowing the value of the proportionality coefficient and the value of a variable, the value of the other variable can be known through the quotient between the proportionality coefficient and the value of the known variable:

y=\frac{k}{x}

The amount of the tip "t" each waiter receives after a wedding is inversely proportional to the number of waiters "n" serving the event. The total amount for tips at a wedding was $1,200.Taking into account the aforementioned definition of inversely proportional quantities, this can be expressed by:

n*t=1200

The relationship between n and t is n*t=1200 (option d)

2. Eli has 600 cubes that are 1 cubic inch. Select the smallest length a cube- shaped box can have while being able to hold the
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

9 in

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find x in x^3 > 600

For x=8, 8^3 = 512 < 600 (Too Small)

For x=9, 9^3 = 729 > 600 (Just right)

For x=10, 10^3 = 1000 > 600 (Too big)

Therefore, the smallest length of the cube-shaped box is 9 in.
