Formal justice systems involve mechanical/procedural steps for all criminal defendants which guides their passage through the Criminal justice system - arrest to punishment. Formal justice systems treat all eligible citizens with the same procedures and rules, while informal justice systems act arbitrarily. Many think informal systems are unfair because they also emotion to play a role in the justice.
