John's room is shaped like a box. It has a flat ceiling that is a rectangle that is 14 feet long and 8 feet wide and the walls a

re 7 feet high. It has one door that is 6 feet high and 3 feet wide. It has two windows that are each 3 feet high and 30 inches wide. John wants to paint the walls and ceiling, but not the door or windows. He can paint 100 square feet with a quart of paint and paint costs $3.50 per quart. He has to buy whole quarts and may have some paint left over. It will cost John to paint his room.

Okay so John needs to buy 7.6 quarts of paint so he would spend 26.55 on paint.

Hope this helps:)

Answer:

It will cost John $14 to paint his room.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have to calculate the whole area (in square feet) that John would have to paint. This area would include the area covered by the ceiling and walls, and exclude the area covered by the door and two windows:

1. Area covered by the ceiling = 14 × 8 = 112 square feet

2. Area covered by walls = perimeter of ceiling × height of wall = 2 × (14 + 8) × 7 = 308 square feet

3. Area covered by the door and two windows = (6 × 3) + (3 × 2.5 × 2) = 33 square feet

(Note: width of window = 30 inches = 2.5 feet)

Therefore, the area that would need to be painted = 112 + 308 — 33 = 387 square feet.

If John can use one quart to paint 100 square feet at $3.50, then he would need 3.87 quarts to paint 387 square feet; however, since he has to buy whole quarts, he would need 4 quarts instead of 3.87, and this would cost = 4 × 3.50 = $14

A person jogged 10 times along the perimeter of a rectangular field at the rate of 12 kilometers per hour for 30 minutes. If fie
balu736 [363]

Answer:

20,000m²

Step-by-step explanation:

If they jog 12 km/h for half an hour, they have covered.

12 X 0.5 = 6km in 10 circuits. Making 1 perimeter

6 / 10 =0.6 km (600 m).

To determine area we need to convert this perimeter to length and width. We know that it is a rectangle, with 2 equal widths and 2 equal lengths, and the length is twice the width.

So L = 2W

Perimeter = 2W + 2L

600 m = 2W + 2(2W)

600 m = 6W

W = 100 m

L = 200 m

Area = 100 X 200 = 20,000 m²

Look at the pic below and please help.
marshall27 [118]

Answer:

1) Equation's:

  • y = 500 + 15x
  • y = 350 + 18x

2) Number of guest and the charge:

  • Cost is same for both at 50 meals. The cost is $1250.

Part 1

Turn sentences into equation's (Let 'y' be total cost and x per meal) :

(i) charges $500 and $15 per meal

  • y = 500 + 15x

(ii) charges $350 and $18 per meal

  • y = 350 + 18x

Part 2

            y  =  y

500 + 15x = 350 + 18x

18x - 15x = 500 - 350

3x = 150

x = 150/3

x = 50

Charge at guest's 50 meal:

y = 500 + 15(50)

y = $1250

Point : (50, 1250)

Is 7 to the 8th power times 7 equivalent to 7 to the the third power times 7 to third power equivalent?
Akimi4 [234]

Answer:

They are not equivalent.

Step-by-step explanation:

Before we solve the question, we need to know that from the laws of indices:

A^x x A^y = A^(x+y).

7 to the power of 8th power means 7^8

7^8 times 7 means 7^8 x 7. From the laws of indices we have 7^8 x 7 = 7^9.

7 to the power of 3rd power means 7^3

7^3 times 7 to the power of 3rd power means 7^3 x 7^3. From the laws of indices we have 7^3 x 7^3 = 7^6.

Obviously, 7^9 ≠ 7^3 therefore, they are not equivalent.

find the x-intercepts and the coordinates of the vertex for the parabola Y equals negative X squared plus 8X -12. If there’s mor
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

x = 2, and 6

x = 2 , 6

Step-by-step explanation:

The quadratic function to analyze is: y = -x^2+8x-12

In order to find where the corresponding parabola intercepts the x axis, we set it equal to zero (y = 0):

y = -x^2+8x-12\\0 = -x^2+8x-12\\x^2-8x+12=0

This equation is easy to solve by factoring. We look for a air of integer numbers whose product equals the constant term "12", and whose combinig renders the coefficient of the middle term of the trinomial "-8".

The two such numbers are "-2" and "-6". We use them to split the middle term, and then solve by factoring by grouping:

x^2-8x+12=0\\x^2-2x-6x+12=0\\(x^2-2x)+(-6x+12)=0\\x(x-2)-6(x-2)=0\\(x-2)(x-6)=0

For the product of two factors to render zero, we need either one to be a zero.This means that (x-2)=0 (that is x = 2), or (x-6)=0 (that is x = 6).

So, there are two x-intercepts: x= 2, and 6
