Answer: take a look at the answers below.

Explanation:

(1) the primary objective of California legal settlement, was to end solitary confinement of prisoners. Following the penal system, of SHU

Which is the SECURITY HOUSING UNIT, where some try pronouncing it as SHOE.

SOLITARY CONFINEMENT:- this is the securing of a prisoner or inmate, in a secluded area or isolation from other inmates due to them being a security issue and them being disruptive to the facilities, fellow inmate and the official. Most times it takes a very long time before there are freed from confinement.

(2) Many Prisoners are out in solitary confinement, as a form of punishment by the penal system, once an inmate is seen as disobedient or violent or breaks a rule, he or she is put in solitary confinement. In most case indefinitely, as a result gives birth to many effects on the inmate, mental instability effects or more.

(3) solitary confinement constitutes cruel and unusual punishment, in the sence that most case of an inmate sent to SHU (security housing unit), are punish severely without the knowledge of higher authority or any of the inmates, whereby the inmate in solitary confinement has no way or form to cry for help and is exposed to all sorts of inhumane punishment and cruelty. Which affects then at the long run.

(4) Gang Members should be held in solitary confinement. This should allowed them to face true self, and sober up from tbier past ways andead a good behavior, and at the same time give no room for gang members orchestrating, any form or plans of harm fellow inmate or doing any inside job, or putting the whole occupants of the facilities at any harms way.

(5) those prisoners put on hunger strike, may as a result be violent and aggressive. And break all given rule, put on hunger strike depends on how the prison are.

My view on this, is that the effect of solitary confinement on inmates, and its cruelty is not the way forward. And that's why California legal settlement, aimed at putting and end to solitary confinement SHU (security housing unit).

deprivation of contact with fellow inmates and human will not only pose a threat to those in confinement, health and mental breakdown. But also to their lives

Cases of some inmates who died while in solitary confinement, where reported.
