No, 3/7 and 7/3 are completely different values. If they represented the same length 3/7 would equal 7/3, which it doesn't. 3/7 = about 0.43 and 7/3 = about 2.33. 0.43 does not equal 2.33.

If f(x) = 3x +9 x when f(x) = 30
den301095 [7]

Answer:

x=5/2

Step-by-step explanation:

When f(x)=30, we have 3x+9x=30.

Combining like terms on the right side, we have 12x=30.

Finally, dividing by 12 we get x=30/12.

We note that 30=6*5 and 12=6*2, so 30/12=5/2.

So, \boxed{x=5/2} and we're done!

What is the mean absolute deviation of the data set?
neonofarm [45]

Answer:

B. 2

To find MAD, find the mean of the set, then find how far each number is from the mean. Next, find the mean of THAT set of numbers. Yea, I know it's a bit confusing... don't worry!

Find the mean of the set:

12 + 10 + 10 + 8 + 6 + 7 + 7 + 12

72

72 / 8

9

Find how far each number is from 9:

12 - 9 = 3

10 - 9 = 1

10 - 9 = 1

9 - 8 = 1

9 - 6 = 3

9 - 7 = 2

9 - 7 = 2

12 - 9 = 3

Find the mean of that number set:

{3, 1, 1, 1, 3, 2, 2, 3}

3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 3

16

16 / 8

2

So the answer is 2!

Not so hard after all :D

Given

 • C(t) = 40 cm + t·(2/5 cm/s) . . . circumference of a circle vs time

Find

 • dr/dt for radius r
 • r at t=4 seconds

Solution

The circumference and radius of a circle are related by

... C = 2πr

so the radius in terms of circumference is

... r = C/(2π)

... r(t) = (40 +0.4t)/(2π) = (1/π)(20 cm + 0.2t cm/s)

Then dr/dt is

... dr/dt = 0.2/π cm/s

And the radius at t=4 s is

... r(4) = (1/π)(20 + 0.2·4) cm

... r(4) = 20.8/π cm
