Answer:

The state of Mississippi most likely made it illegal to promote racial equality because they wanted to keep the blacks at a lower social and economic position. Mississippi and other southern states followed the "Jim Crow" laws. In the states that followed the "Jim Crow" laws they were strictly enforced and people would be fined and imprisoned. In Mississippi, if anyone was caught promoting equality they could be fined up to $500.00 and/or be in jail 6 months in jail.

Answer:

Mississippi likely made illegal to promote racial equality because of Anti-miscegenation laws mainly.

Explanation:

Anti-miscegenation laws were one of the laws that many southern states adopted as they believed that it was not right to consider white and black people as equals in society, it was stated in many of these laws that the interaction between different races should be limited in many areas since they were not allowed to have a romantic relationship or get married, and the people who protested against it or supported the equality of rights were considered criminals as well.

cupoosta [38]
I loved this book lol anyway the problem in the book was all the people/ characters in the book who were "evil" and how they solved it was trying to become it's friend or fighting and defeating it. The two main characters were Jesse and Leslie who were best friends. They both have big imaginations and decided to build a secret land together.
