Here is an example: If you go 100 miles every 2 hours, what is the unit rate? The unit rate would be 50 miles. Here is all you have to do. You divide (in my case) miles by (in my case) 2 hours, which equals 50 miles. Does that help?

A boat has a rip-hole in the bottom while 20 miles away from the shore. The water comes in at a rate of 1.5 tons every minute, a
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

t = 70 tons/1.5 tons/min = 46.7 min = 2800 sec before boat sinks

S = V * t

V = S / t = 20 mi * 5280 ft/mi / 2800  sec  = 37.7 ft/sec

Since 88 ft/sec = 60 mph

the speed is 60 * 37.7 / 88 = 25.7 mph

the overall length of a machine part consist of three pieces joined together. these pieces measure 2 3/4 in., 1 1/2 in. and 7/8
almond37 [142]
You just add them together. First, you give them all the same denominator. So 2 3/4 goes to 2 6/8 and 1 1/2 goes to 1 4/8. 1 4/8 + 2 6/8 + 7/8 = 3 17/8. 3 17/8 simplified = 5 1/8. So 5 1/8 inches
