Diaphoresis is an abnormal condition which is characterized by excessive perspiration. This is a symptom of abuse of hypnotics or sedatives. In this condition the temperature of the body must be assessed primarily from upper thorax and forehead. Those who do not abuse sedative or hynotics the temperature can be assessed by rectal and oral cavity.
