Answer:

The correct answer is -494.6 kJ/mol

Explanation:

Find enclosed the Born Haber cycle for MX. The solid compound M (M(s)) is sublimated to M(g) and then it is ionizated to M⁺. The gaseous compound X₂(g) is first dissociated to its atoms in gaseous phase X(g) and then it is ionizated to give X⁻(g). Lattice energy (LE) is the energy required to form 1 mol of MX(s) from its ions in gaseous phase.

From the cycle, we have:

ΔHºf= ΔHsub + IE + ΔHdis + EA + LE

⇒LE= ΔHºf - ΔHsub - IE - 1/2 ΔHdis - EA

  LE= -169.7 kJ/mol - (74.4 kJ/mol) - (538 kJ/mol) - 1/2 (157 kJ/mol) - (-366 kJ/mol)

  LE= -494.6 kJ/mol

What is the relationship between a planet's period of rotation and diameter?
Maksim231197 [3]

There is, however, a relationship between a planet's distance from the Sun and its period of revolution. Kepler's third law of planetary motion says that the square of the planet's orbital period is proportional to the cube of its semimajor axis.

PLEASE HELP ME :)
KiRa [710]

Answer:

Ice melting is a physical change. Physical changes are changes which affect the form of a chemical substance, but not its chemical composition. Certain factors, such as, temperature, contribute to the melting of ice, but it will be classified as a physical change, because the number of molecules present in the water does not change.

Element z reacts with bromine to form an ionic compound zbr2
slamgirl [31]

Explanation:

Physical properties of ZBr₂

The compound is an ionic substance. Therefore it will have properties of ionic compounds. Some of these properties are:

  • it is a hard solid usually with high melting points or a liquid with high boiling points.
  • Soluble in water and insoluble in non-polar solvents.
  • It can conduct electricity in aqueous solutions or in molten form.
  • it will undergo a fast reaction.

Z is a metal

To form ionic compound, a metal will combine with a non-metal. Bromine is a non-metal and it is expected that Z will be a metal. This is because ionic bonds involves transfer of electron from one specie to the other. Metals are usually the donor and non-metals are the receptor. This is how ionic bond forms. The electrostatic attraction resulting from the ions produced the ionic bond.

Formula of the oxide

ZO

                 Z                           0

                +2                         -2

It is obvious that Z has 2 valence electrons. It will lose the two valence electrons to attain stability.

Oxygen requires 2 electrons to resemble Neon. This combination will give a compound ZO.
