How to write domain and range

Mathematics

Domain is the complete list of x-values that a function can have, and the range is the complete list of y-values that a function can have.

Domain and range can be written as (x, y) if the domain/range does not include the x or y value.

Domain/range can be written as [x, y] if the domain/range does include the x or y value.

If the function has multiple intervals, we use U to symbolize "union."

How are natural and the whole number different
yawa3891 [41]

Whole numbers: all non negative integers are called whole numbers. The point to be remembered is that all natural numbers are whole numbers but all whole numbers are not natural numbers. For ease you can remember that 0 is a whole number but not a natural number.

The diagonal of a square has a length of Eight times begin square root two end square root cm. Find the length of a side of the
Sidana [21]

ANSWER

A. 8cm

EXPLANATION

The diagonal of the square is

d = 8 \sqrt{2} cm

Let the length of each side of the square be l units.

Then the diagonal and any two sides form an isosceles right triangle with the diagonal being the hypotenuse.

We use the Pythagoras Theorem, to obtain,

{l}^{2}  +  {l}^{2}  =  {d}^{2}

This implies that,

2 {l}^{2}  = (8 \sqrt{2}  )^{2}

2{l}^{2}  = 128

Solve for l,

{l}^{2}  = 64

Take positive square root of both sides

l =  \sqrt{64}

l = 8cm

initial population of a town is 3400 and it grows with a doubling time of 10 years what will the population be in 8 years
Talja [164]
So in 10 years, the population will double.

8 years is just before doubling to 6800.

If you consider 10 years to be 100% of the doubling time, 8 years is 80%.

And 80 as a decimal is 80/100 = 0.8

So the answer is 0.8 * 6800, simplify.

What is the solution to the system of equations?
MariettaO [177]

Answer:

x=-4 y=-1

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's solve your system by substitution.

−3x−8y=20;y=5x+19

Rewrite equations:

y=5x+19;−3x−8y=20

Step: Solve y=5x+19for y:

y=5x+19

Step: Substitute5x+19foryin−3x−8y=20:

−3x−8y=20

−3x−8(5x+19)=20

−43x−152=20(Simplify both sides of the equation)

−43x−152+152=20+152(Add 152 to both sides)

−43x=172

−43x

−43

=

172

−43

(Divide both sides by -43)

x=−4

Step: Substitute−4forxiny=5x+19:

y=5x+19

y=(5)(−4)+19

y=−1(Simplify both sides of the equation)

Answer:

x=−4 and y=−1
