I think this is saying that there are 12 crayons in a pack and 12 packs in a box BOXES of crayons cost $8.98. You would need to buy 3 boxes to get the 34 packs of crayons. 8.98 x 3= $26.94

17 x 2 = 34 boxes of crayons per year
8.98 x 34 = $305.32 for the year
