Answer:

9.2 (1DP)

Step-by-step explanation:

  1. First you do 10^2 which is 10 X 10 = 100
  2. Then you do 4^2 which is 4 X 4 = 16
  3. Then you do 100 - 16. The way Ive learnt it is that if the hypotenuse isn't the one you have to find then minus of it it is then plus. So 100 - 16 = 84
  4. A^2 + B^2 = C^2 84 is C^2 meaning now you have to square root it
  5. Square root of 84 is 9.2 to 1 DP

Answer:

\huge\boxed{2\sqrt{21}\approx9.17}

Step-by-step explanation:

\text{The Pythagorean theorem:}\\\\leg^2+leg^2=hypotenuse^2\\\\\text{We have:}\\\\leg=4,\ hypotenuse=10\\\\\text{Substitute:}\\\\4^2+leg^2=10^2\\\\16+leg^2=100\qquad\text{subtract 16 from both sides}\\\\16-16+leg^2=100-16\\\\leg^2=84\to leg=\sqrt{84}\\\\leg=\sqrt{(4)(21)}\qquad\text{use}\ \sqrt{ab}=\sqrt{a}\cdot\sqrt{b}\\\\leg=\sqrt4\cdot\sqrt{21}\\\\leg=2\sqrt{21}

  • Standard Form: ax² + bx + c = 0
  • Quadratic Formula: x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

4x² + 9x - 1 = 0

<u>Step 2: Define variables</u>

a = 4

b = 9

c = -1

<u>Step 3: Find roots</u>

  1. Substitute:                    x=\frac{-9\pm\sqrt{9^2-4(4)(-1)} }{2(4)}
  2. Exponents:                   x=\frac{-9\pm\sqrt{81-4(4)(-1)} }{2(4)}
  3. Multiply:                        x=\frac{-9\pm\sqrt{81-16} }{8}
  4. Subtract:                       x=\frac{-9\pm\sqrt{65} }{8}

Which of the following choices is the simple formula for the nth term of the following arithmetic sequence?
kkurt [141]
\bf 7~~,~~\stackrel{7-4}{3}~~,~~\stackrel{3-4}{-1}~~,~~\stackrel{-1-4}{-5}~~,~~\stackrel{-5-4}{-9}~~,~~...

so namely, the "common difference" d = -4, and the first term a₁ = 7.

\bf n^{th}\textit{ term of an arithmetic sequence}&#10;\\\\&#10;a_n=a_1+(n-1)d\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;n=n^{th}\ term\\&#10;a_1=\textit{first term's value}\\&#10;d=\textit{common difference}\\&#10;----------\\&#10;d=-4\\&#10;a_1=7&#10;\end{cases}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;a_n=7+(n-1)(-4)\implies a_n=7+(4-4n)&#10;\\\\\\&#10;a_n=11-4n\implies a_n=-4n+11
