No equation is true when the value of x is 8

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation is true if the left hand side is equal to the right

hand side, to prove that

  • Write the left hand side
  • Substitute the value of x
  • Find the value of the left hand side (L.H.S)
  • If the answer equal the value in the right hand side (R.H.S then the equation is true at this value of x

A.

∵ 6x - 20 = 32

∴ L.H.S = 6x - 20

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = 6(8) - 20 = 48 - 20 = 28

∵ R.H.S = 32

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

B.

∵ 16 - \frac{1}{8} x = 12

∴ L.H.S = 16 - \frac{1}{8} x

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = 16 - \frac{1}{8} (8) = 16 - 1 = 15

∵ R.H.S = 12

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

C.

∵ 20 - 0.4x = 13.8

∴ L.H.S = 20 - 0.4x

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = 20 - 0.4(8) = 20 - 3.2 = 16.8

∵ R.H.S = 13.8

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

D.

∵ \frac{1}{5} x + 12 = 30

∴ L.H.S = \frac{1}{5} x + 12

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = \frac{1}{5} (8) + 12 = \frac{8}{5} + 12 = 13.6

∵ R.H.S = 30

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

No equation is true when the value of x is 8

The volume of a cone is 218 cubic centimeters and the height of the cone is 13 cm. What is the radius of the cone to the nearest
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

The radius is 4 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume of the cone is found using the volume formula for a cone V=\frac{1}{3}\pi r^2h.

Substitute V = 218 and h = 13.

V = \frac{1}{3}\pi r^2h\\218 = \frac{1}{3}\pi (r^2)(13)\\\frac{218}{13}=\frac{1}{3}\pi r^2\\\frac{16.769}{3.14} = \frac{1}{3} r^2 \\5.34 * 3= r^2 \\ 16.02 = r^2 \\ 4 = r

krek1111 [17]

Answer:

As the question states, predict how many times. I don't get the "realistic" prediction part, but however,

he caught it 9/10 times. I can predict he will catch it 29.7 times, rounded to 30 times.
