No equation is true when the value of x is 8

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation is true if the left hand side is equal to the right

hand side, to prove that

  • Write the left hand side
  • Substitute the value of x
  • Find the value of the left hand side (L.H.S)
  • If the answer equal the value in the right hand side (R.H.S then the equation is true at this value of x

A.

∵ 6x - 20 = 32

∴ L.H.S = 6x - 20

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = 6(8) - 20 = 48 - 20 = 28

∵ R.H.S = 32

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

B.

∵ 16 - \frac{1}{8} x = 12

∴ L.H.S = 16 - \frac{1}{8} x

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = 16 - \frac{1}{8} (8) = 16 - 1 = 15

∵ R.H.S = 12

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

C.

∵ 20 - 0.4x = 13.8

∴ L.H.S = 20 - 0.4x

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = 20 - 0.4(8) = 20 - 3.2 = 16.8

∵ R.H.S = 13.8

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

D.

∵ \frac{1}{5} x + 12 = 30

∴ L.H.S = \frac{1}{5} x + 12

∵ x = 8

∴ L.H.S = \frac{1}{5} (8) + 12 = \frac{8}{5} + 12 = 13.6

∵ R.H.S = 30

∴ L.H.S ≠ R.H.S

∴ The equation is not true when x = 8

No equation is true when the value of x is 8

When Theresa walks at a pace of 88 steps per minute, it takes her 90 minutes to walk the trail. If she alters her pace to 33 ste
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer: 33 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi to answer this question we have to write a proportion

Speed rate = 88 step per minute

Time = 90 minutes

So, the proportion is 88 step/min / 90 minutes

For 33 steps per minutes = 33 / x minutes

88/90 = 33/x

solving for x:

x= 33/ (88/90)

x = 33.75 = 33 minutes.

What is the measure
nekit [7.7K]

Answer:

b = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Complementary angles add to 90 degrees

a+b = 90

78+b = 90

Subtract 78 from each side

78-78+b = 90-78

b = 12
