Psychologists believe we categorize items by comparing defining features and comparing similarities between items.

Explanation:

Comparing defining features is a categorization method due to the frequency of its use, good or bad. Seeing that four people with one eye helped you tremendously, many would believe that having one eye means you are a helpful person. Comparing similarities is usually used in a more negative way, as someone could be electrically shocked by a game controller and, for the rest of their life, never touch a controller again. Comparison of defining features is usually due to frequent exposure to these features while comparison of similarities is commonly due to trauma.
