That excess of salt (sodium ions) will increase plasma osmolality. Therefore, more salts in the plasma and less salts in the cells (but more water) will cause the water out of the cells to maintain homeostasis. So, the pressure will increase, and the pressure sensors will in the series of reactions suppress aldosterone production. Since aldosterone is important for reabsorption of salt in the kidneys, the urine will have higher concentration of salt and increased urine volume

Explain how the water vascular system allows an echinoderm to move along the ocean floor. Please help!
astra-53 [7]

Answer: Sea stars move using a water vascular system. Water comes into the system via the madreporite. It is then circulated from the stone canal to the ring canal and into the radial canals.

Evolution can be guided by random processes. What is the effect called when some genotypes are lost in a small population over t
soldi70 [24.7K]

Answer:

Genetic drift

Explanation:

Genetic drift is defined as the random change in allelic frequencies from one generation to the other.

Genetic drift is an evolutionary mechanism in which the allelic frequencies in a population change through many generations. Its effects are harder in a small-sized population, meaning that this effect is inversely proportional to the population size. Genetic drift results in some alleles loss, even those that are beneficial for the population, and the fixation of some other alleles by an increase in their frequencies. The final consequence is to randomly fixate one of the alleles. Low-frequency alleles are the most likely to be lost. Genetic drift results in a loss of genetic variability within a population.

Genetic drift has important effects on a population when this last one reduces its size dramatically because of a disaster -bottleneck effect- or because of a population split -founder effect-.

Energy from sunlight can excite electrons, kicking them out of their orbitals and creating free radicals. Free radicals are high
SCORPION-xisa [38]

Since carotenoids stabilize dangerous free radicals, we can assume that their function is to protect the cell from the free radicals.
