Also known as the right to freedom of peaceful assembly or the right to freedom of association, it refers to the individual liberty or people to come together to express disagreement, demand change, defend other rights or interests or express ideas. It is recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as in the First Amendment of the Constitution. Workers protesting for higher wages is one excellent example of association to defend the interests of a group, and is protected under the US constitution
