The absolute value of a number (indicated by two straight lines) is the distance that number is away from zero. So, even if a number is negative, it's absolute value is positive. The only way that a number's absolute value would be negative is if there was a negative sign outside of the absolute value. Knowing this, since -25 is 25 'spaces' away from zero, the absolute value of -25 is 25.

13. Solve 5x² - 6x + 1 = 0 using the quadratic formula.<br><br><br> please help me and show work
yaroslaw [1]

Answer: x= 1, \frac{1}{5\\}

Step-by-step explanation:

The quadratic equation is

x=\frac{-b+\sqrt{b^{2}-4ac } }{2a}

and

x=\frac{-b-\sqrt{b^{2}-4ac } }{2a}

So we just need to sub in the proper numbers from the equation given, in this case, it would result in

x=\frac{6+\sqrt{(-6)^{2}-4(5)(1) } }{2(5)}

and

x=\frac{6-\sqrt{(-6)^{2}-4(5)(1) } }{2(5)}

Once we get this we can either manually simplify or use a calculator, using a calculator would result in the answers

x= 1, \frac{1}{5\\}
