Answer: A. fighting the British

Patrick Henry was an American attorney and orator who was very significant in the development of the United States as an independent nation. Considered a Founding Father, he also served as the first and sixth Governor of Virginia. Patrick Henry also served as a delegate to the First and Second Continental Congresses. He was outspoken in his defense for independence, and believed that the only way the colonists were going to achieve it was by fighting the British. He is also well-known for his phrase <em>"Give me liberty, or give me death!"</em>

Read the sentence below and answer the following question: What had been the study and desire of the wisest men since the creati
nordsb [41]

The correct answer is "the desire of wise men".

In her play "Frankenstein" (1823), Mary Shelley uses different syntactic strategies in order to put emphasis on certain information. For example, she could have written something like this: "within my grasp is the study and desire of the wisest men...".

Instead, she chose to present the information in a rhetorical way. She introduced the "wh" word "what" opening the window for the reader to question himself what is the meaning of "what"?

What is THAT THING that had been the study and desire of wisest men since the creation of the world?  What did they want to know?
