In 1848, Phineas Gage, a railroad construction foreman, survived when an explosion drove an iron rod through his head damaging t

he functioning of the frontal lobes. This instance provided evidence that the frontal lobe plays a role in personality and behavior. Researchers have continued to study Gage's brain to better understand this link. Which research method is being used?

Answer:

Case study

Explanation:

Phineas Gage: a case study.

An error in the procedure caused that, when this worker tried to compact the powder placed in the cavity using a metal bar, a spark would jump. The explosion of the mixture occurred a few centimeters from the face of the young man and, as a result, the metal bar one meter long and about three centimeters in diameter pierced his skull before landing more than twenty meters from where he presumably.

When Gage returned to work in the work, the measured and cordial worker that everyone knew had disappeared to give way to a person with bad temper, easy to irritate, given to insults, prone to waste and with a very short-term vision of the lifetime. He was, in general, an impatient and irreverent person, who let himself be carried away by desires, fruit of a whim, and who thought little of others.

This little historical episode is a mandatory stop in many university careers related to neuroscience and behavior because, in fact, it was one of the first well-documented examples in which it was seen how material changes in the brain modified not only cognitive abilities, but aspects of psychology that have traditionally been associated with the "soul", that is, the way of being and the essence of human beings.

Somehow, the accident of the metal bar served to indicate the biological bases on which rather abstract psychological processes are sustained, such as the management of emotions and decision-making. In addition, the case of Phineas Gage also served to reinforce the hypothesis that different areas of the brain deal with different aspects of behavior.

Arrange the following structures in order from the small intestine to the rectum. (1) ascending colon (2) descending colon (3) s
Hitman42 [59]

Answer: in order from small intestine to the rectum: 1, 4, 2 and 3.

Explanation: Ascending colon; the colic valve(the ileocecal valve) is located at the bottom of the ascending colon. At the top of the ascending colon, the colon bends to the left, forming the right colic flexure called the hepatic flexure. The transverse colon begins after this flexure.

The transverse colon; is the longest and most movable part of the colon which runs across the abdomen from the ascending colon at the right colic flexure with a downward convexity to the descending colon, here it curves abruptly on itself under the lower end of the spleen to form left colic flexure called the splenic flexure.

Descending colon; it start from the splenic flexure to the beginning of the sigmoid colon. The descending colon stores the remnant of digested food that will be deposited into the rectum.

Sigmoid colon; also known as pelvic colo is the closest to the rectum, it is a passage by which digested food move into the rectum.

tatuchka [14]
Human anatomy deals with the study of the human body, its structures, and how these structures specifically function. Microscopic anatomy on the other hand deals with structures found within the body that cannot be seen by the naked eye but can be viewed with the use of the microscopic. Microscopic anatomy deals with the study of the smallest structures of the cells, tissues, and organs of the body.

What does an Mrna molecule play in the flow of information for protein synthesis
dimaraw [331]

mRNA plays a crucial role in protein synthesis. It carries the information for synthesis of a particular protein from the DNA to the ribosomes.

In the cell nucleus, this information is copied (transcribed ) from DNA and onto mRNA. mRNA then leaves the nucleus and enters the cytoplasm where it attaches to a ribosome.

Transfer RNA or tRNA  begins to read (translate) the information on the attached mRNA and from the pool of free amino acids in the cytoplasm, fetches the amino acids that corresponds to the information, and brings them to the ribosome where they are linked together into a chain, forming the primary structure of protein.
