Answer:

Option A: −5+i

Step-by-step explanation:

In the complex plane, the real part of the number is expressed in the horizontal axis, and the imaginary part is expressed in the vertical axis. So, to find the distance of a point to the origin, we just need to apply the distance formula with the second point being (0,0):

A. −5+i

real part: -5

imaginary part: 1

distance to origin: D = sqrt((-5)^2 + 1^2) = 5.099

B. −2+4i

real part: -2

imaginary part: 4

distance to origin: D = sqrt((-2)^2 + 4^2) = 4.4721

C. 3 + 3i

real part: 3

imaginary part: 3

distance to origin: D = sqrt(3^2 + 3^2) = 4.2426

D. 4 + 3i

real part: 4

imaginary part: 3

distance to origin: D = sqrt(4^2 + 3^2) = 5

So the farthest point from the origin is point A: −5+i

Help me quick what is 5x90
maria [59]
5 x 90 = 450

When you multiply numbers with zeros, you first multiply the numbers and then add the zero(es) at the end.

5 x 9 = 45
5 x 90 = 450

Subtracting Rational Numbers Simplify –3 – 1.
aksik [14]

Answer:

-4

Explanation:

when subtracting a positive integer from a negative, the answer becomes smaller. If the question were to ask -3-(-1) negative 3 minus negative 1, the subtraction sign becomes a addition sign, and you add 1 to -3.

Martin has a total of 19 nickels (50.05) and dimes ($0.10) worth $1.65. How many of each type of coin does he have?
mezya [45]

Answer: 19nickels and 7dimes.

Ps i really don’t know where the 50.05 came from if it is suppose to be there then I really don’t know how to solve this.

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok so if you know that there are 19nickels, let n=number of nickels.

The number of total coins subtracted by number of nickels will give you number of dimes.

165-number of nickels=number of dimes

Value of dimes=10(number of dimes) or total value of dimes/individual value (10cent)

Then you can substitute total as $1.65 and get the value of nickels by multiplying by 5cent ( my teacher taught me using whole numbers to make it easier so I turned $1.65 to 165 cent). Since the value of the dimes is the value of nickels subtracted from the total, I can subtract 95 from 165 and divide the difference by 10, to get the number of dimes.

5(n)=5(19)=95

(165-95)/10=number of dimes

70/10=7dimes

You can check by multiplying 7x10 and 5x15 again and adding them together to see if they equal 165 cent.

9. The ticket at right has a perimeter of 42 cm.
Liula [17]

Perimeter simply represents the sum of all side lengths of a shape. The length of the missing side of the ticket is 5 cm; the length of gold line on each ticket is 20 cm, and 2 bottles of gold ink are required to draw gold lines on 200 tickets.

I've added the image of the ticket as an attachment.

(a) The missing side length

From the attachment, the 4 unknown side lengths are equal. Represent this side length with L.

So, we have:

Perimeter =2\times 11 + 4 \times L

This gives

2\times11 + 4 \times L = 42

22 + 4 \times L = 42

Collect like terms

4 \times L = 42-22

4 \times L = 20

Divide both sides by 4

L =5cm

(b) The length of the gold lines

There are 4 slant lines and the length of one of the slant lines is 5 cm (as calculated above).

So, the length of the gold line is:

Gold = 4 \times L

Gold = 4 \times 5cm

Gold = 20cm

(c) The number of gold ink bottles.

n = 200 --- number of tickets

The length of all gold line in the 200 tickets is:

Length = 200 \times Gold

Length = 200 \times 20cm

Length = 4000 cm

Length = 4000 \times 0.01m ---- convert to meters

Length = 40m

Given that:

Bottle = 20m --- 1 bottle for 20 m

The number of bottles (n) is:

n = \frac{Length}{Bottles}

n = \frac{40m}{20m}

n = 2

Hence, 2 bottles of gold ink are enough.
