The reason for the colors is to ascertain that this social ranking was acceptable to all members of society, even the serfs and the reason for not looking directly at the king, his lords, or the knights, is because they were believed to be too lowborn and unworthy to look at the higher hierarchies.
Those who argued for women’s rights, thought they were just as equal as men, because they were always thought of as “pious, submissive wife and mother.” Those who were against womens rights thought they were only good for staying home, cleaning, doing the dishes, making food, and taking care of the kids. With all this being said, in society, women were viewed as only caretakers, who shouldn’t have a right to vote.
