The height between the two trees will be 1.67 feet.

What you do is you take the 1/2 have and times it by 6 because it is every two years that the tree grows 1/2 of a foot. So it will be 3 feet. The other tree grew 4 inches in 3 years so it will be 16 inches you will then have to make the 16 inches into feet to get 1 1/3. You will then minus the 3 feet and the 1 1/3 to get 5/3 or 1.67 feet.
