The correct answer is D) the colonists disliked increasing British control.

The American colonists became more and more unhappy with British rule in the years leading up to the American Revolution. The statement that best explains this is "the colonists disliked increasing British control."

American colonists were tired of the influence of the British crown and the excessive taxation imposed by the English government. American had to obey in everything that England said but American people had no representation or voice in the British Parliament. That was not fair. Terrible acts such as the Stamp Act of 1765 or the Tea Act of 1763 angered Americans so much and were important causes to prompt the demanding of independence of Britain and the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

What is the summary of the Emancipation Proclamation in one paragraph?
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]
Despite his personal opposition to slavery, when President Abraham Lincoln took office in 1861 he insisted that his constitutional duty was to keep the nation together, not to abolish slavery. He conducted the first year of the war with the goal of reuniting the Union, but wartime events, including heavy military losses and the many slaves who escaped behind Union battle lines, forced him to contend with the issue of slavery. He issued a preliminary Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862 and the final version on January 1, 1863, fundamentally changing the meaning of the war.
