Answer:

x = 7

y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

In the above question, we are given 2 equations which are simultaneous. To solve this equation, we have to find the values of x and y

x + 3y = 13 ........ Equation 1

x - y = 5...........Equation 2

From Equation 2,

x = 5 + y

Substitute 5 + y for x in Equation 1

x + 3y = 13 ........ Equation 1

5 + y + 3y = 13

5 + 4y = 13

4y = 13 - 5

4y = 8

y = 8/4

y = 2

Since y = 2, substitute , 2 for y in Equation 2

x - y = 5...........Equation 2

x - 2 = 5

x = 5 + 2

x = 7

Therefore, x = 7 and y = 2

Sebastian solved the radical equation y 1 = but did not check his solution. (y 1)2 = y2 2y 1 = –2y – 3 y2 4y 4 = 0 (y 2)(y 2) =
ale4655 [162]

Equation has no true solutions.

Given: y + 1 = \sqrt(-2y-3)\\

squaring both sides

{(y + 1)}^2  =-2y-3

{y}^2 + {1}^2+ 2y = -2y - 3

{y}^2+ 2y + 4 = 0

(y+2)(y+2) = 0

y = -2

TO VERIFY:

The law cos(x+90⁰)=-sin(x) can be proved by putting y=90⁰ in the following

Formula,

cos(x+y)=cos(x).cos(y)-sin(x).sin(y)

substitute value of y in equation

-2+1  =\sqrt(-2(-2)-3) gives:

-1 = 1 which is incorrect.

Therefore, There are no solutions to the equation.

Alternatively,

If (a1/a2) = (b1/b2) ≠ (c1/c2), then there will be no solution. This type of system of equations is called an inconsistent pair of linear equations. If we plot the graph, the lines will be parallel and system of equations have no solution.

Y=3(x+1)(x-5)
I'm going to ignore 3 for now, but will add it later.
FOIL the (x+1)(x-5)
F = multiply the First numbers      x and x
O = multiply the Outside numbers      x and -5
I = multiply the Inside number        1 and x
L = multiply the Last numbers        1 and -5
3(x^2 + -5x + 1x + -5)
add -5x and x
3(x^2 + -4x + -5)
multiply the numbers inside the parenthesis by 3
3x^2 + -12x + -15
