(x² + 16x)² = 17²

√x² + 16x)²  =  √17²
(x²  +  16x)   = (+-)17
1st equation: x²+16x-17 = 0
2nd equation:x²+16x+17 =0
Let's solve these 2 quadratic equation:
1st equation x' =1 & x" = - 17
2nd equation x'= (-8+√47) & x" =(-8-√47)

On a piece of paper, use a protractor and a ruler to construct two equilateral triangles: one with a side length of 2 inches and
Monica [59]

Answer:

Answer:

(B)

Step-by-step explanation:

We have to construct two equilateral triangles that is one with the side length of 2 inches and the another triangle with side length of 3 inches.

Now, both the triangles are equilateral triangles, thus they have same shape.

Also, both triangles have different side lengths, one having 2 inches and another having 3 inches, thus they have different size.

Hence, the true statement about the two triangles is:

The two triangles are the same shape but not the same size.

Therefore, option B is correct.

The function f(x)=3 (x+6)^2+8 is shifted 4 units up and 3 units right to form another function g(x). What is g(x)?
iVinArrow [24]

Answer:

g(x) = 3\cdot (x+3)^{2}+12

Step-by-step explanation:

There are two operations involved:

Vertical translation:

f'(x) = f(x) \pm c,\,c\in \mathbb{R} (1)

Note: Positive sign represent a translation upwards.

Horizontal translation:

f'(x) = f(x\pm c), x\in \mathbb{R} (2)

Note: Positive sign represent a translation leftwards.

Then, the new function must be:

g(x) = f(x-3)+4

g(x) = 3\cdot (x+3)^{2}+12
