2^-2 = 1/2^2

so: (1/2^2)*(12*3)-5^3

simplify: (1/4)*36-125

36*(1/4) = 36/4 so: 9-125

subtract: -116

Pilar says that two linear systems below have the same solution. (see picture) Is she correct? Explain.
wariber [46]
The first set:

3x + 2y = 2 ---1)
5x + 4y = 6 ---2)

From 1), multiply all by 2, 6x + 4y = 4 ---3)

3) - 2),

6x + 4y - (5x + 4y) = 6 - 4
6x + 4y - 5x - 4y = 2
x = 2

Sub in x = 2 into 1),

3(2) + 2y = 2
2y = -4
y = -2

(2 , -2)

The second set:

3x + 2y = 2 ---1)
11x + 8y = 10 ---2)

From 1), multiply all by 4, 12x + 8y = 8 ---3)

3) - 2),

12x + 8y - (11x + 8y) = 8 - 10
12x + 8y - 11x - 8y = -2
x = -2

From this x value alone, we can tell that these two linear systems do NOT have the same solution as they meet at different coordinates.

Hope this helped! Ask me if there's any working from here that you don't understand! :)

Rewrite the following expression.
faust18 [17]

We have been given the expression

x^{\frac{9}{7}}

We have the exponent rule

x^{\frac{a}{b}}= x^{a^{(\frac{1}{b})}}

Using this rule, we have

x^{\frac{9}{7}}= x^{9^{(\frac{1}{7})}}

Now, using the fact that x^{\frac{1}{n}}=\sqrt[n]{x}, we get

x^{\frac{9}{7}}= \sqrt[7]{x^9}\\
\\
x^{\frac{9}{7}}=\sqrt[7]{x^7\times x^2}\\
\\
x^{\frac{9}{7}}=x\sqrt[7]{x^2}

D is the correct option.

In ΔEFG, f = 1.2 inches, ∠E=55° and ∠F=109°. Find the length of e, to the nearest 10th of an inch.
Alekssandra [29.7K]

Answer:

e = 1.04

Step-by-step explanation:

To find e, we apply the sine rule

e/sineE = f/sineF

e/sine55 = 1.2/sine109

e/0.8192 = 1.2/0.9455

0.9455e = 1.2 x 0.8192

e = 0.9830/0.9455

e = 1.0397

to nearest tenth = 1.04inch
