Earthquakes radiate seismic energy as both body and surface waves. Traveling through the interior of the earth, body waves arrive before the surface waves emitted by an earthquake. These waves are of a higher frequency than surface waves. The first kind of body wave is the P wave or primary wave. Hope this helps:)

Which statement is true of jet streams?
maw [93]

D

The largest contrast in temperatures between cells, which forms jet streams, occurs between the Ferrel and Polar cells, and especially during Winter. This forms a strong polar jet stream with high-speed that can exceed 120 km/h.

Explanation:

There are usually 3 circulating air masses from the equator to the poles on either hemisphere. These cells are called the Hadley, Ferrel and Polar cells. The polar jet stream occurs between the Ferrel and Polar cells while the subtropic jet stream occurs between the Ferrel and Polar cells. These jet streams occur due to the temperature difference between the air masses of the cells.

These jet streams are high altitude narrowing blowing winds. They occur in the tropopause and blow at speed of 120 to 250 mph.

In a neuron at rest Select one: a. the inside of the cell is positively charged as compared to the outside. b. potassium ions ar
zalisa [80]

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-E

Explanation:

The neuron is the functional unit of the nervous system which transmits the signals to and fro the tissue and nervous system. The neurons transmit the signals in the form of an electrical impulse as a result of the movement of the ions across the neuron.

When a neuron does not transmit any signal therefore it is known to be at rest but at rest, the movement of ions takes place but very slowly. The movement ions lead to the accumulation of sodium ions inside than outside whereas potassium ions are concentrated outside as compared to inner.

This charge difference leads to the disequilibrium in the charges and hence a potential gradient is created. This potential is known as resting potential.

Thus, option-E is the correct answer.

What is competition in an ecosystem?

Competition will happen between organisms in an ecosystem when their niches overlay , they both try to utilize the exact resource and the resource is in lack of supply.

Fuana contend for chow, water and area to live. flora contend for light, water, minerals and root area.

So,Competition is an relations between organisms or species in which both need a resource that is in limited pool.
