Answer: A. $6x + $27 < $87

Step-by-step explanation:

Your question says “...x represents the number of times he eats out”, when he eats out its $6, so that means obviously that the x would be by the 6 and the less then symbol would be facing 87 cause your wont to spend less then that amout.

How do you determine whether a sum will be positive, negative, or 0 when adding a positive and a negative integer?
professor190 [17]
If the integers have the same absolute value ... they're the same number
but with different signs ... then their sum is zero.

Example:    (plus) 927 added to (negative) 927  =  zero

If the integers have different absolute values ... they're different numbers with different
signs ... then their sum has the same sign as the one with the bigger absolute value.

Examples:

==>   (plus) 92 added to (negative) 91
         92 and 91 are 1 number apart on the number line.
         The positive number is bigger than the negative number.
         So the sum is  +1 .

==>    (plus) 35 added to (negative) 37
          35 and 37 are 2 numbers apart on the number line.
          The negative number is bigger than the positive one.
          So the sum is  -2 .

Drag and drop the answer into the box to identify each function as linear, exponential, or neither.
katrin2010 [14]
<span>x 2 3 4
f(x) 5.5 7 8.5 </span>

The first function is linear. When you subtract 5.5 from 7, you get 1.5 and when you subtract 7 from 8.5 you also get 1.5. That's how we know it's a linear function because there's clearly pattern. HOWEVER, if you had 5.5, 7, and 9 that would not be a linear function. Why? Because when you take away 7 from 9 you get 2. In order for it to be a linear function you have to get the same exact number when you subtract.

<span>x 0 3 6
f(x) 1 8 64</span>

The second function is exponential because when you divide you get the exact same number. 8/1 = 8 and 64/8 = 8. So this is exponential. But if you had 72 instead of 64 it would not be an exponential function because there has to be a pattern.

I hope this makes sense. Btw I had this question on my test too and this is correct.
