The sentence that explains the significance of this story to ancient Egyptians is the following:

“From that day forward, the people of Egypt considered each pharaoh to be Horus in the form of a human”.

The story told is based on the myth of Osiris-Horus-Set and the last sentence is the one that indicates the meaning given to this myth by the Egyptian people, through the religion transmitted by its priests.

Basically this myth is the explanation that represents the source of authority and legitimacy of Pharaoh as King and God Sovereign of the Egyptian people.
